Conducting has become one of Earl's favorite musical roles, but it wasn't until 2001 that he sought training in order to truly develop proficiency and confidence "on the podium". (The curricula for both of his performance degrees unfortunately did not include conducting.) For a full year Earl studied with his UConn colleague, Dr. Jeffrey Renshaw, who continues to be an invaluable resource and musical mentor. Since then, Earl has enjoyed guest conducting opportunities with the U.S.A.F. Airmen of Note, the BMI-New York Jazz Orchestra, the 2005 MENC All-Eastern Jazz Ensemble, the University of Connecticut Wind Ensemble, and regional high school honor ensembles in Connecticut & Massachusetts.

Knowing exactly how to produce the musical outcomes he envisions has been extremely rewarding.
