Artist-in-Residence

An artist-in-residence is not a guest appearance.
It’s a temporary ecosystem.

My residencies are designed as immersive, inquiry-driven experiences where sound, thought, and social context are treated as inseparable. The work unfolds over two or three days through listening, dialogue, rehearsal, and performance—always in relationship with the people and place hosting it.

Possible points of engagement include:

  • Developing and rehearsing original large-ensemble music with student or community ensembles

  • Guided exploration of jazz composition, orchestration, and musical architecture

  • One-on-one and group feedback on student compositions and creative projects

  • Deep work in improvisation as language, risk, and collective listening

  • Collaborative performance with faculty or resident artists

  • Piano and rhythm section master classes focused on time, touch, and intention

  • Coaching small ensembles with emphasis on interaction and form

  • Conversations around artistic life, sustainability, and the realities of working inside—and against—institutions

Residencies are shaped in collaboration.
The goal is not coverage.
It’s depth.

If your institution values music as a civic practice—not just a curriculum—this work will resonate.
