VT District Jazz Ensemble repertoire

This page is preserved as an example of the preparatory materials I share with regional honor ensembles when serving as a guest conductor. Prior to the first rehearsal, I typically distribute listening links and brief notes on the selected repertoire so students can begin forming stylistic expectations, identifying challenges, and engaging with the music beyond the printed page. Although this communication was originally written in advance of the 2018 Vermont VMEA District VI High School Jazz Band rehearsals, it now functions as a snapshot of my repertoire choices and pedagogical priorities for that ensemble and level.
